Nuclear power – on the agenda

A nuclear power conference was held in Johannesburg in February. Designed and chaired by nuclear physicist, Dr Kelvin Kemm, the conference was a meeting of minds of a valuable mix of nuclear professionals, industrialists, regulatory people and project management specialists.

The general consensus was clearly that nuclear power is needed not only for South Africa but for Africa as a whole.

Take note

  • South Africa and Africa need to consider nuclear power.
  • There is adequate competence and experience in South Africa for local teams to partner with international teams to construct nuclear power stations.
  • South Africa is moving towards nuclear power.
