Understanding and following the five best practice safety principles, as stated in EN 50110-1 will save lives, keeping employees safe, when performing electrical installations.


  1. Disconnect completely
  2. Secure against reconnection
  3. Verify that the installation is dead
  4. Carry out earthing and short-circuiting
  5. Provide protection against adjacent live parts
